Stone Island Spring/Summer 2014 Stripes Collection
Italian menswear label Stone Island is backing stripes for the season ahead, unveiling an entire collection dedicated to the maritime look. The line-up, which includes lightweight sweatshirts, t-shirts and pique shirts, has been made available in a range of colours.
Rugby style shirts are also on offer, as are smart jumpers and white t-shirts, with louder styles found in polo and golf shirts, using black and orange or green and black lines. The firm hasn’t lost its use of branding despite the approach. One of the key pieces, a pink and purple jumper, features the trademark Stone Island badge, worn alongside black and mauve loose shorts in the accompanying look book.
Prices for the new line, premiered with the use of a video, start at £85 for t-shirts, going up to £280 for sweatshirts. Polo shirts and shorts are in the middle, selling for between £110 and £165. The brand, which was founded in 1982 in Bologna by Massimo Osti, was born out of research into the use of thick truck tarpaulin used to create jackets. Osti selected the name by identifying the two most common words in author Joseph Conrad’s novels. Stone Island’s warm-weather range is available to buy at its flagship store in Brewer Street, central London, and online. -fashionbeans
