Prince Harry is reportedly unsettled as political shifts in the United States raise questions about his visa status. The Duke of Sussex, who has been residing in California since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, is facing growing scrutiny over his immigration records.
Concerns over his visa status have intensified following a legal push for transparency. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has called for the release of Harry’s visa application details, particularly regarding any past admissions of drug use. The case has now reached a critical juncture, with a judge recently casting doubt on whether his records can remain private.
Commenting on the developments, royal expert Jennie Bond said, “There’s no doubt that President Trump’s return to the White House means that this is squeaky bum time for Harry.” Bond emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Harry’s future in the U.S., given Trump’s previous comments on the royal.
“The president is a man who seems to have a strategy of making a series of threats – and sometimes he acts on them. In the past, he said that Harry was on his own and criticized him for ‘betraying’ the late Queen,” she told The Mirror.

Harry’s residency in the U.S. has been a subject of debate ever since he and Meghan Markle relocated to Montecito, California. Unlike his wife and children, who are American citizens, Harry requires a visa to stay in the country. If his application contained any discrepancies, it could lead to significant consequences, including potential deportation.
Bond further warned that Harry must tread carefully amid the shifting political landscape. “So the fact the judge has now cast a certain amount of doubt over whether his visa application can remain private must be worrying for the Prince. Basically, I think Harry is now pretty much on a yellow card.”
She added, “He’s going to have to make sure he behaves himself and that he and Meghan don’t stir up any trouble for Trump or openly criticize him because the president is a man who might well seek vengeance.” With the 2024 U.S. presidential election looming, the Sussexes may have to navigate an increasingly complex political environment.
While they have maintained a high-profile presence in Hollywood and philanthropy, any further controversy could place Harry’s residency in jeopardy. For now, the Duke remains in California, awaiting further legal decisions regarding his visa status while preparing for an uncertain future in America.
