After attending the Invictus Games in Canada alongside Prince Harry, Meghan Markle returned to California alone to reunite with their children, Archie and Lilibet. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly brought back souvenirs for her children and shared that they would be supporting Harry from their home in Montecito.
However, details about Meghan’s return flight have sparked discussion, with reports suggesting that her trip may have cost up to £24,000 and resulted in 6.6 tonnes of CO2 emissions. According to GB News, the 43-year-old traveled without Prince Harry on a three-hour flight that burned approximately 800 gallons of fuel.
The publication also reported that Meghan and Harry are believed to have used the same £7 million Bombardier CL-600 luxury jet for their outbound journey to Canada. The flight details raised eyebrows due to their environmental advocacy. GB News noted, “The CO2 emissions from the flight weigh the equivalent of a large elephant, despite the couple having previously been recognized as environmental role models.”
The flight reportedly took off from Vancouver at 2:06 PM local time on February 11, landing in Seattle at 2:40 PM. After a 30-minute stopover, the aircraft departed again at 3:14 PM, finally touching down at Santa Barbara Airport at 5:01 PM. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Meghan’s return is her unexplained stop in Seattle.

The report did not specify why she made the stop, leading to speculation about what could have prompted the detour. This is not the only intriguing aspect of Meghan’s post-Invictus activities. Shortly after returning to California, she shared an Instagram story featuring a song by her nephew, Alhanii. Alhanii is the son of Thomas Markle Jr., Meghan’s half-brother, who has publicly criticized her and Prince Harry in the past.
Meghan’s decision to share her nephew’s music surprised many, as it seemed to hint at a possible reconciliation with her estranged family. Her Instagram post, which also displayed the gifts she brought home for Archie and Lilibet, has led to speculation that she might be making efforts to mend past rifts.
With questions surrounding her Seattle stopover and her unexpected social media activity, Meghan’s return to California has left royal watchers and the public wondering what’s next for the Duchess.
