The Sharks Are Circling: Trump Campaign Leaders on ‘Thin Ice’ Amid Harris Surge, Says Reporter

As former President Donald Trump’s campaign struggles against Vice President Kamala Harris’s rise in the polls, speculation is mounting about the future of Trump’s campaign leadership. Many political observers are questioning whether campaign bosses Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles are nearing the end of their tenure, as per reports Newsweek.
In a Thursday appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Guardian reporter Hugo Lowell confirmed that LaCivita and Wiles are indeed facing mounting pressure. “The sharks are circling,” he remarked about the campaign leadership team. “It has been a bad enough month, the previous month for the Trump campaign that there are enemies, real and perceived, that are starting to look at the Trump campaign leadership team and really start to tell Trump, you know, you’ve got to get rid of these guys, you’ve got to reset it.”
Lowell highlighted a key meeting between Trump and former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway earlier this month, which reportedly left campaign officials concerned for their jobs. The meeting suggested that “Kellyanne’s coming for their jobs, or at least they had such a bad month that Kellyanne felt emboldened enough to make a play.”
This isn’t the first time Trump’s campaign leadership has faced turmoil. Lowell pointed out that Trump has a history of firing campaign chiefs during the summer of election years, as he did with Paul Manafort in 2016 and Brad Parscale in 2020. “This has historically been the time when Trump makes changes, and there has been some concern that this could be in the offing,” he explained.
The uncertainty within Trump’s campaign comes at a critical time as Harris continues to gain momentum in the polls, raising questions about the effectiveness of the current leadership and whether a shake-up is imminent. With the pressure mounting and internal tensions rising, the coming weeks could see significant changes in Trump’s campaign strategy and personnel.
