Piers Morgan Reveals Tense Moments Before Explosive Trump Interview
In 2022, the inaugural episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored featured a dramatic interview with former President Donald Trump on TalkTV. A promotional clip released beforehand showed Morgan challenging Trump on his election fraud claims, capturing Trump’s growing frustration and eventual walkout.
According to Business Insider, Morgan later revealed that Trump was already furious before the interview even began, after reading a compilation of Morgan’s past critical comments about him. Morgan recounted the tense moments leading up to the interview. He described how one of his production staff urgently handed him a document, warning him that it contained negative quotes he had made about Trump over the past two years.
The staff member explained, “This is a collection of quotes you’ve apparently said about President Trump. Someone sent it to him in the last hour, and the quotes are not good. In fact, they’re really bad.” Morgan’s heart sank as he scanned the three-page document. Morgan’s co-worker informed him that Trump was “VERY upset.”
When Morgan entered Trump’s office, the former president angrily brandished the document, exclaiming, “What the f–k IS this?” Among the quotes were statements like, “Trump’s now too dangerous, he’s morphed into a monster that I no longer recognize as someone I considered to be a friend and thought I knew,” and “He’s now acting like a mafia mob boss.”
Defending himself, Morgan told Trump, “I’ve always been critical of you when I’ve felt you deserved it, but as you know, I’ve also written and said many supportive things about you too. This is a one-sided hatchet job designed to stop you from doing our interview.” As Trump’s anger grew, Morgan managed to divert the conversation by complimenting Trump on his golf skills, which helped to defuse the situation.
Trump eventually agreed to proceed with the interview, saying, “Okay, I guess I’ll still do the interview. I don’t know why, honestly, but I’ll see you down there.” Despite the earlier tension, Trump appeared calm when he arrived at the interview room, even posing for photos with Morgan, according to the New York Post.
The interview covered a range of topics, including nuclear weapons, the British royal family, and Joe Biden. However, the discussion took a contentious turn when Trump was questioned about his reaction to the 2020 election results and the events of January 6. At this point, Trump’s frustration boiled over, leading him to walk off the set, abruptly ending the interview.
