Obama Expresses Concern Over Biden’s 2024 Election Prospects Amid Rising Democratic Worries
Former President Barack Obama is reportedly worried about Joe Biden’s chances in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, echoing broader concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden’s reelection prospects. According to a source familiar with Obama’s thoughts, the 44th president is apprehensive about the intensity of the forthcoming elections and the potential challenges to the democratic system.
This concern was highlighted in a recent New York Post article that discussed the growing unease among Democrats as Biden prepares to possibly face Donald Trump again in what is expected to be a fiercely competitive race. Adding to these concerns, a poll reported by the Daily Mail revealed that 60% of voters are seeking ‘another option’ for 2024, signaling widespread voter dissatisfaction with the likely rematch between Biden and Trump.
The poll also indicated that independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could potentially siphon votes from Biden, further complicating the Democratic incumbent’s path to reelection. On the Republican side, Trump continues to lead as the GOP frontrunner despite facing multiple criminal trials related to his actions following the 2020 election and issues with mishandling classified documents.
Biden’s reelection campaign is currently navigating several critical issues, including concerns about the economy, U.S.-Mexico border security, and rising crime rates, which could sway public opinion. Meanwhile, Trump, if convicted in any of his trials before the November election, would face additional hurdles, though he still holds a strong position within the Republican base.
David Axelrod, Obama’s former chief political strategist and a key figure in his 2008 victory, has also voiced concerns about Biden’s vulnerabilities. Speaking on a podcast, Axelrod described Biden’s declining job approval ratings and unfavorable comparisons with Trump as “very, very dark” news for the current administration. “Job approval down, ratings generally down, most of the comparatives with Trump not good,” he noted, painting a bleak picture of Biden’s standing.
Moreover, the ongoing investigations into the business dealings of Biden’s son, Hunter, and the recent announcement of an impeachment inquiry are expected to pose additional challenges for Biden as the election approaches. A recent poll highlighted that 56% of respondents were dissatisfied with Biden being the Democratic nominee, further underscoring the uphill battle he faces.
Another poll underscored Trump’s significant lead over Biden in five out of six critical battleground states, emphasizing the formidable electoral landscape that Biden must navigate. This series of polls illustrates a decline in Biden’s support both nationally and in key states, compounded by public concerns about his age and capacity to govern.
