Ivanka Trump has officially confirmed that she will not be returning to public service, citing the personal cost and the impact it would have on her children—one she is not willing to make them bear. Speaking in a recent interview with political commentator Ben Shapiro, Ivanka made it clear that she is stepping away from politics for the foreseeable future.
The clip of their conversation, posted on Shapiro’s Instagram and reported by OK! Magazine reinforced her decision to remain focused on her family. “The main reason I am not going back to serve now is I know the cost, and it’s a price that I’m not willing to make my kids bear,” Ivanka stated.
When asked if she had faced pushback over her decision, she acknowledged that it is a question she gets “a lot.” However, she emphasized that the choice was easy because it aligns with her core values. “My highest, most core value is family,” she explained, adding that during her father’s last term in office, her children were much younger, making it “easier to not be present.”
Now, with her kids growing into their teenage years, she stressed that her “physical presence” in their lives is more important than ever. Ivanka’s decision to stay out of politics isn’t new. When President Donald Trump announced his 2024 presidential bid, she issued a statement reaffirming her love and support for her father while making it clear that she would not be involved.
“I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics,” she said in 2022. In July 2024, she expanded on her thoughts about politics during an appearance on The Lex Fridman Podcast, where she described the political landscape as “a dark world” filled with “a lot of negativity.”
She admitted that it was “at odds” with what felt right for her personally. Many online users praised Ivanka’s choice to step back from public life to focus on her children. “LOVE THIS!! Her time will come, but right now, the best thing she can do is raise those babies,” one Instagram commenter wrote.
Another added, “She is top tier in every aspect.” Others admired her priorities, with one stating, “Love her! Yes, our children are our highest priority, and she will be present for her dad.” Another user commented, “She’s a real one. You can feel her love and passion for her family. They seem like they are her world and more.”
Ivanka’s firm stance on prioritizing her family over politics signals a major shift from her previous role in the Trump administration. While she remains a strong supporter of her father, her focus is now on her private life—at least for now.
