A recent investigation by House Republicans has reportedly found “zero support” for conspiracy theories suggesting that the FBI fabricated the pipe bombs found near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The 79-page report, compiled by the House Judiciary and House Administration committees, cites information gathered from the FBI about the discovery of two pipe bombs placed at the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters on January 5, 2021.

Despite extensive investigations, the report notes that federal law enforcement has not yet identified the person responsible for planting the bombs, which remains a significant unresolved issue from that day.

“Nearly four years later, federal law enforcement has yet to identify the individual responsible for planting the pipe bombs, which remains one of the unanswered questions from that day,” the report states. “Despite its initial efforts, the FBI has yet to identify the suspect and has refused to provide the Subcommittees with additional information about these investigative leads.”

The report goes on to highlight the dangers posed by the bombs, which were placed near the homes of lawmakers, their staff, and law enforcement officers. “The devices placed many lawmakers, staff, law enforcement, and residents in harm’s way,” it reads.

“Yet, almost four years after the incident, Americans scarcely have any detail about who planted the bombs or why. This lack of information hampers Congress’s ability to legislate improvements to the security of the Capitol Complex and the operations of federal law enforcement. The failure to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the bomber ultimately makes all Americans less secure.”

Politico correspondent Kyle Cheney pointed out that the investigation provided “exactly 0 support to conspiracy theories about the bombs.” MAGA supporters of President-elect Donald Trump had previously suggested that the FBI fabricated the pipe bomb incident.

One America News (OAN) anchor Kara McKinney echoed this sentiment during a 2022 interview with MAGA activist Julie Kelly. “Many are starting to regard them as just another FBI hoax,” McKinney said. Kelly added, “Well, look, it’s very suspicious,” before making baseless claims about a government-contracted employee potentially being involved in the incident.

While the investigation concludes without supporting the conspiracy theories, the identity of the bomber and the reasoning behind the attack remain unanswered questions, leaving lingering concerns about the security of the Capitol.
