Donald Trump Jr. Calls Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve Bash ‘Amateur Night,’ Says Guests Treat Him Like a ‘Freaking Imbecile’
Donald Trump Jr. did not hold back when discussing his father’s annual New Year’s Eve celebration at Mar-a-Lago, calling it “amateur night” and saying he often feels treated like a “freaking imbecile” by the guests.
The incoming first family, including President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President-elect JD Vance, and billionaire Elon Musk, gathered for a glitzy celebration at Trump’s Palm Beach estate.
Before the big event, Donald Trump Jr. shared his frustrations about the celebration on his Triggered with Don Jr. podcast. He revealed that ringing in the New Year would be “a little rough” for him, telling podcast guest Peter Schweizer, “I get to be around a thousand drunk people giving me their political opinions that I don’t necessarily want to hear.”
He continued, “By about midnight when everyone’s like, you know, 12 beers deep or whatever it is they’re drinking… it’s not for me. This’ll be like a year, like nine of, ‘Hey, you know, have you ever thought to maybe have your dad not tweet that?’”
Trump Jr. added with sarcasm, “I’m like, no, I’ve never thought that ‘cause I’m a freaking imbecile.'” He further revealed his preference for solitude, saying, “You wouldn’t know it but I’m basically a recluse… I’m okay with a mic when I have a big crowd, but I don’t like being around a lot of people if I can avoid it, according to the Daily Beast.
I like fishing, hunting, and, like, two people.” Despite his discomfort, the New Year’s Eve bash still saw many high-profile guests, including Trump’s children Eric and Tiffany Trump, and his ex-wife, Marla Maples.
A viral video from the evening showed President-elect Donald Trump and Elon Musk doing the signature “Trump dance” to the Village People’s “YMCA.” Melania Trump was also seen joining in on the fun. The video quickly gained traction online, with fans celebrating the moment as a lighthearted reminder of Musk’s close ties to the incoming administration, according to Fox News.
Meanwhile, Trump took the opportunity to reflect on the year ahead, predicting that 2025 would be a “great year.” He said, “I think we’re going to do fantastically well as a country. We’re going to bring it back. It has to be brought back. People are not respecting our country very much, and they are going to respect us a lot.”
As the evening unfolded, several internet users trolled Trump Jr., with comments such as “Truth hurts sometimes” and “Sounds like the guests are good judges of character.” Others even poked fun at him with remarks like, “Genetic attribute!” and “This civil war is making its way to the home front. ‘What a shame.’”
