Experts Suggest Biden Could Steal Trump’s Spotlight by Dropping Out Before RNC Speech
Amid mounting pressure from party leaders, it appears increasingly likely that President Joe Biden may drop out of the presidential race. Some experts believe the perfect moment for such an announcement would be right before Donald Trump takes the stage at the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Thursday night.
Trump is scheduled to give the RNC keynote address shortly after 9 p.m., and several experts suggest that Biden could overshadow Trump’s speech by making his announcement at the same time. Anthony Michael Kreis, a law professor at Georgia State University, wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Biden would be “an absolute icon” if he bowed out just before Trump’s speech began.
Writer Parker Molloy agreed, stating that preempting Trump’s speech would, “just render the entire speech outdated right before he gives it.” Molloy added, “If Biden’s going to drop out, he should 100% do it like 5 minutes before Trump speaks tonight.”
National Review writer Jeff Blehar expressed a similar sentiment, hoping the announcement would happen during Trump’s speech. “Biden choosing to officially drop out during the middle of Trump’s speech would be the revenge Trump deserves for planning in advance to run 90 minutes long,” Blehar wrote on X.
Another X user suggested, “May as well make an impact instead of doing it on a random slow news day.” The speculation underscores the high stakes and strategic maneuvering in the lead-up to the 2024 election. Biden’s potential decision to drop out at a critical moment could significantly shift the political narrative and impact both parties’ campaign strategies. As tensions rise, all eyes will be on the timing of any announcements and their potential to disrupt the planned proceedings.
