Clean your Air Conditioner like a Pro
Air conditioner cleaning is an essential part before turning it on but it’s cleaning needs expensive repairs. By doing it yourself you can cut down these expanses easily.
Here come some simple tips to clean an air conditioner your own.
Tools Required:
- Tin can or container (old muffin tin works well also)
- Vacuum cleaner
- Oil can
- Rags
- Long handled brush (an old toilet brush works well)
- De-greaser or spray detergent
- Screwdrivers
- Fin tool
- New filter (if disposable type)
Air Conditioner cleaning process
- Remove filter from the front grille
- Replace it with the new one if it is disposable, if not then clean it
- Sprinkle detergent over filter. Leave it for 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly
- Let it dry
- Then remove the front grille from the main body of AC, pushing it downwards gently
- To look inner details, careful remove the metal cover of AC but make sure all screws are driven off
- Use tin can or container to keep all screws
- Now check the fan motor for oil holes or plugs that are usually of rubber. If they are brittle remove them using screw driver
- Add 3-4 drops of oil to the oil holes in motor body
- Remove dirt from the surface of evaporator using brush. Then spray HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioner coil cleaning) cleaner over it
- Now cover the motor with the cloth rags and slowly pour warm water into fins to clean them
- Now using a soft rag wipe any excess of dirt from fan blades
- Now it’s time to vacuum all surfaces at front and back of grille. Also vacuum the underside of metal AC cover
- When all parts are completely dry, plug in air conditioner to check its working
- If everything is ok, unplug and reassemble all removed parts
- After reassembling the parts again plug in AC and check its efficiency
This procedure if followed yearly will help your AC working properly and throwing quality air.
