New Mom Killed While Saving Her Baby During Terror Attack Near Tel Aviv
A young mother was tragically killed while heroically saving her infant’s life during a deadly terror attack near Tel Aviv, Israeli officials confirmed Wednesday. Inbar Segev-Vigder, 33, was gunned down as she shielded her 9-month-old son, Ari, from two terrorists who went on a rampage in Jaffa, a city in central Israel.
“One of the victims from yesterday’s terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, Inbar Segev-Vigder, was murdered while shielding her 9-month-old son Ari,” the State of Israel’s official account shared on social media. “She saved his life. There are no words. Only heartbreak.”
Segev-Vigder was one of seven people murdered in the attack, which saw two Palestinian terrorists open fire and stab victims at a train station late Tuesday. The terrorists struck just minutes before Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles into Israeli territory, following last week’s killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and other senior officials of the terror group.
Newsweek reported that surveillance footage captured the horrifying moments as the attackers jumped off a train, armed with a gun and knife, and began their assault. The scene of the attack was filled with the bodies of blood-soaked victims, some inside the light rail carriage, others on the ground nearby.
Segev-Vigder, a personal trainer and Pilates instructor, leaves behind her husband and son. Another victim identified was Shahar Goldman, 30, a professional dancer who had just married last year. Other victims included Revital Bronstein, 24, Nadia Sokolenko, 40, and Ilia Nozadze, 42. The name of the seventh victim had not been made public at the time of the report.
At least 16 others were injured in the attack, according to Israeli police. Authorities confirmed that the two attackers, both from the Israeli-occupied West Bank town of Hebron, were shot and killed by security guards and armed civilians.
While the men had no prior arrests, one had previously been involved in a demonstration that led to a disturbance of the peace. The attack has left the community reeling, as tributes pour in for Segev-Vigder and the other victims, all of whom were caught in a senseless act of violence.
