Michael Obama’s brother and sister-in-law sue USM over kids’ expulsion
Craig Robinson, brother of former US First Lady Michelle Obama, and his wife, Kelly, appeared on Good Morning America on Monday, April 18. During the interview, they discussed their lawsuit against the University School of Milwaukee.
The two claimed that the school used racial bias in their online classes. They also claimed that UMS expelled their two sons from the school after they complained about racial bias. Furthermore, Craig and Kelly Robinson claimed that the school was unconcerned about the socioeconomic status of certain students.
Robinson told GMA:
“We’re moving forward with this for a couple of reasons. We want to hold University School of Milwaukee accountable not just to our two children who they retaliated against, but more importantly, there’s a whole community of people who are out there that we wouldn’t feel right if this happened moving forward.”

Craig Robinson (60), a former Ivy League basketball player, is the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Executive Director (NABC). Robinson accepted the position in 2020, according to his profile in the organization’s database.

Kelly and Craig Robinson’s lawsuit against the University School of Milwaukee
The Robinsons explained on their lawsuit website that USM engaged in “repeated use of racial and ethnic stereotypes” during the online classes during the pandemic. Craig and Kelly Robinson claim to have found discrepancies in some assignments. Furthermore, they stated,
“We also witnessed a disregard for children who were not physically present in class and an apparent insensitivity to socioeconomic status – an issue that was put in stark relief during the pandemic.”
The couple decided to sue the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee only after their sons were expelled due to their concerns. According to the website, the independent preparatory school provided no explanation for their sons’ expulsion. As a result, they had no choice but to take the dispute to court.
