An Indiana man allegedly stabbed his wife 40 times with a “big a knife”** while their three children slept upstairs, claiming she “just didn’t give a s* about the Paris-themed Valentine’s Day date he planned, prosecutors say.

According to court documents, 34-year-old Taylor Meyer is accused of brutally attacking his wife, Deborah Meyer, 36, in their Jeffersonville home after suspecting she was having an affair with a co-worker.

In an effort to rekindle their marriage, Meyer orchestrated a romantic “Bringing Paris to You” evening, complete with a new dress for his wife, a special dinner, and Eiffel Tower drawings from their children, as reported by WAVE.

Despite his efforts—including a handwritten card and a dance to their wedding song—Meyer reportedly felt his wife was unimpressed. “It was the hardest I’ve ever tried,” he allegedly told investigators, adding, “She just didn’t give a s–t.”

After the Valentine’s Day disappointment, Deborah briefly left the house, which Meyer assumed was to meet her alleged boyfriend. When she returned, tensions escalated. During an argument, Deborah reportedly challenged Meyer, asking:

Meyer has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge. He will be held in jail leading up to his July trial date. (WAVE 3)

“What are you going to do, kill me? You’re going to hurt me and leave our kids with no parents?” As the altercation turned physical, Meyer allegedly grabbed her phone, knocked her unconscious with a wine bottle, and then stabbed her 40 times with a kitchen knife, according to Law & Crime.

Prosecutors say Meyer then snapped a photo of his wife’s brutalized body and sent it to her suspected “boyfriend”, with a message reading: “Your fault.” He also reportedly called friends and relatives to confess to the crime. When police arrived at the scene, they found the couple’s three young children still inside the home, WAVE reported.

Meyer has pleaded not guilty to murder charges and remains in custody. His court appearance is scheduled for July. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or text START to 88788 for confidential support.
