Tom Brady Sends Message to Jon Jones Before UFC 285 Title Fight
Jon Jones will make his long-awaited return to the octagon on Saturday night when he takes on Cyril Gane in the main event of UFC 285. Tom Brady offered some words of encouragement to Jones ahead of the showdown.
Before his fight against Gane, the recently retired NFL quarterback congratulated “Bones” on his return to action.
“Hey Jon, I wanted to say welcome back to the main stage. It’s great to see the GOAT doing what he does best and doing what he’s meant to do. I thought seven titles was a lot, you doubled it, man,” Brady said in the video message to Jones.
Jones hasn’t fought in the UFC in more than three years. His most recent fight was in February of 2020 when he defeated Dominick Reyes by decision at UFC 247.
Jones has a 26-1-0 record in 27 UFC fights, with his only loss coming on a controversial disqualification against Matt Hamill back in 2009.
Jones will be fighting in unknown territory on Saturday night, in the heavyweight division. During Friday night’s weigh-in, he tipped the scales at 248 pounds, an increase of more than 40 pounds from his last fight in 2020.
As Brady stated in his encouraging video message, Jones has 14 career title fight victories, more than doubling the number of Super Bowls the legendary quarterback won during his NFL career. With a win over Gane on Saturday, he could add a 15th title and claim the heavyweight title.
