Father of Two Dies in Pregnant Wife’s Arms After Confronting ‘Suspicious’ Individual
A 37-year-old man was tragically shot and killed after confronting suspicious individuals on his street in Houston, leaving behind his pregnant wife and two children. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 10, at approximately 12:30 a.m., when the victim, identified as Osvaldo Casas, approached a suspicious vehicle near his home, according to Houston police.
The night before, Casas and his family had reported vandalism to one of their cars, which had heightened their concerns. According to KHOU11, a black vehicle had been spotted in the neighborhood, and the following night, a neighbor called the police to report the same vehicle driving slowly through the area.
Casas decided to approach the suspicious vehicle, and as he did, gunshots were fired. He was struck multiple times and collapsed. His wife, Judith Molina, who is eight months pregnant and due to give birth to a baby boy next month, rushed outside and attempted to perform CPR on her husband.
“I did it for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over, but by that time I already knew he was gone. I knew he was gone,” Molina told Fox 26. Casas’s mother, Blanca Aguirre, shared the heartbreak of the moment with The Independent, saying, “She tried to give him CPR, and he died in her hands.”
In the aftermath of the tragedy, a GoFundMe page was set up by Molina to help support the family. The page describes Casas as “a man of deep love and kindness” who died “bravely protecting our family.” He leaves behind two children, a 16-year-old and an eight-year-old, as well as the couple’s unborn baby. As of Tuesday, the fundraiser had raised more than $14,000, offering some relief to the grieving family as they navigate this devastating loss.
