Toyota FT-86 Open Convertible Concept to debut at Geneva Motor Show 2013
At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, where the car aficionados across the globe will get to see the global debut of some of the world’s finest and cars including the Bentley’s most powerful 4-door model 2014 Flying Spur, the Aston Martin Rapide Bertone Jet 2+2, the Production Alfa Romeo 4C, and the most dynamic and powerful Rolls-Royce Wraith with Spirit of Ecstasy Figurine, to name a very few, will also get to see the launch of Toyota’s FT-86 Open Concept.
This show ride impressively previews a possible future development of the award-winning GT86 sports coupe, and will also help Toyota gauge public reaction to the idea, at the same time as it carries out engineering tests on a prototype. This convertible which shares the same architectural platform between Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S features a multi-layered canvas hood incorporating a glass rear window, and this impressively folds electronically behind the fixed rear seats.
Offering a bright white exterior and contrasting navy blue canvas roof, the Toyota FT-86 Open Concept uses the 197bhp 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine from the coupe.
And if this concept ride goes into production, then Toyota claims that it’ll offer the six-speed manual and auto boxes, and an electronically operated folding soft-top will replace the roof.
