Pregnant Woman Vanishes from Hawaii Army Base as Husband Is Taken into Custody in Mysterious Case
In late July, a young pregnant woman from Hawaii mysteriously disappeared, and now her husband, a U.S. Army soldier, has been placed in military custody in connection with her case. The disappearance of 19-year-old Mischa Johnson has left her family and the community in shock, as authorities continue to search for answers.
Mischa, who was six months pregnant, was last seen on the evening of July 31 at her home on Schofield Army Barracks in O’ahu. The next day, she was reported missing, according to the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division. Her sudden disappearance has sparked a widespread investigation, drawing attention both within and beyond the military community.
In a significant development on Monday, August 19, the 25th Infantry Division released a statement confirming that “an individual has been placed into military custody in the Mischa Johnson missing person case.” The statement identified Mischa’s husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, as the individual currently in military pretrial confinement in Hawaii.
While it remains unclear whether Dewayne Johnson has been formally charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the gravity of the situation has left many concerned. The Army Criminal Investigation Division is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that could lead to Mischa’s whereabouts.
Mischa Johnson is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, and of Filipino descent. She has a distinctive large dragon tattoo on her back, which could help in identifying her. Her husband, Dewayne Johnson, originally from Frederick, Maryland, enlisted in the United States Army in November 2022 and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division as a Cavalry Scout in June 2023.
The military’s focus remains on finding Mischa, supporting her family, and ensuring the safety of personnel at U.S. Army installations in Hawaii. “Our efforts remain focused on locating Mischa, supporting her family, and the safety and security of all personnel at US Army Hawaii installations,” the statement emphasized.
As the investigation continues, the Army has urged anyone with information about Mischa’s disappearance to come forward. “We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact the Pacific Field Office at 808-208-0059.” With the investigation ongoing, Mischa’s loved ones and the community are anxiously awaiting any updates that could bring clarity to this troubling case.
