Mother Raises Concerns After 3-Year-Old Son Wanders from Daycare to Walmart Unsupervised
Jasmine Najee, a concerned mother from Dothan, Alabama, is speaking out after her 3-year-old son, Sir Paxton, made an unsupervised trip from his daycare to a nearby Walmart, raising serious concerns about the safety protocols at the facility. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Kiddie Care Learning Center, where Sir Paxton had been attending.
According to Najee, her son asked to use the restroom, and the daycare staff instructed him to go alone. Unnoticed by the staff, Sir Paxton managed to leave the daycare entirely and walk across the street to Walmart. WLBT reported that the young boy wandered through the store for approximately 20 to 25 minutes before a Walmart employee, who happened to be a family friend, recognized him.
Sir Paxton was found with Hot Wheels and snacks in hand, preparing to check out when he was stopped. Security footage revealed that Sir Paxton left the daycare at 4:07 p.m., with police being alerted around 4:30 p.m. Despite the alarming situation, Najee wasn’t informed by the daycare until nearly 5 p.m., leaving her both frustrated and deeply concerned for her son’s safety.
While Sir Paxton was unharmed, Najee reflected on the frightening potential outcome, saying, “We could be grieving his death.” In response to the incident, Kiddie Care Learning Center’s owner, Kishia Saffold, issued a public apology. She took full responsibility for the daycare’s failure to protect Sir Paxton, stating, “As the director and owner, I take full responsibility for our failure.”
Saffold also reassured parents that the daycare would be implementing new security measures to prevent any similar incidents in the future. Although the situation ended without harm, Najee and other parents are left questioning the safety standards at the daycare, emphasizing the need for stricter protocols to ensure the well-being of all children in their care.
