Jay-Z Accused of Trying to Identify Anonymous Accuser in Lawsuit: ‘Outright Illegal Conduct’

Jay-Z is allegedly making efforts to publicly identify the woman accusing him and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her in 2000 when she was just 13 years old, according to attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the plaintiff.
In a letter to the Southern District of New York, Buzbee raised concerns over what he described as Jay-Z’s attempts to expose the accuser’s identity. Buzbee explained that the letter was prompted by “several recent improper communications directed to the court” by Jay-Z’s legal team.
He revealed that his firm had “filed a renewed motion for the plaintiff to proceed anonymously.” However, Buzbee accused Jay-Z’s lawyers of breaching professional protocols, saying, “Rather than merely oppose that motion, [they] filed their own motion to ‘deny anonymity to his accuser and/or to dismiss under Rule 12(b)(1).’”
Buzbee criticized the move, calling it “procedurally improper and substantively deficient,” and claimed it served as a “pretext” to file two letter briefs. He described the briefs as “nothing short of defamation hiding behind the thinnest veneer of litigation privilege.”
The attorney further argued that the letter briefs failed to provide a valid justification for revealing the plaintiff’s identity, stating, “They contain little substance, save for one sentence requesting an expedited hearing.”
Buzbee escalated his claims, alleging that he possesses “actual evidence” that Jay-Z’s legal team has engaged in “outright illegal conduct” related to the case, told Daily Mail.
Jay-Z was recently named as a co-defendant in one of Buzbee’s lawsuits against Sean “Diddy” Combs. Combs is currently in custody awaiting trial on serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and other offenses.
The lawsuit has reignited public scrutiny, with allegations that Jay-Z and Combs assaulted the plaintiff after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The woman, who remains anonymous as “Jane Doe,” has sought to keep her identity protected throughout the proceedings.
As the legal battle unfolds, Buzbee’s accusations add another layer of controversy, raising questions about privacy rights, legal strategy, and the ethical boundaries of litigation.
The case remains one of the most high-profile legal challenges currently facing the entertainment industry, with both Jay-Z and Combs denying all allegations.
