Georgia Officials want people to stop being naked in their driver’s license pictures
Georgia officials are begging citizens to put on a shirt before taking their driver’s license pictures.
On May 23, the Georgia Department of Driver Services asked citizens to remember to dress appropriately for their digital identity cards in a Facebook post.
“Attention, lovely people of the digital era! Please take pictures with your clothes on when submitting them for your Digital Driver’s License and IDs,” the DDS wrote in their post.
A meme of astrophysics Neil deGrasse Tyson was also included in the article.
“Cheers to technology and keeping things classy!” the department added.
When someone asked the DDS in the comments section whether the reminder was a “joke” and if people were actually sending nude pictures, the group answered with a GIF that said, “It’s real.”
They used a similar lighthearted tone while responding to other remarks.
When asked for examples of what not to do when photographing a driver’s license, the DDS released another GIF of a nude cartoon skeleton taking a selfie.
According to the DDS website, drivers may upload their driver’s license to their iPhone’s Apple Wallets or their Apple Watch, making it easier to pass through TSA checkpoints.
It is not, however, a substitute for real driver’s licenses.
The DDS did not react promptly to Insider’s request for comment submitted after regular business hours.
