Miley CAN Sing Without Twerking
Miley Cyrus is everywhere.
It’s something the world has to accept, like the changing of the seasons, the darkness the end of daylight saving time brings, and the Kardashians.
However, one Cyrus habit that isn’t as constant as it may seem is the singer’s apparent addiction to the use of “shocking” stunts during her performances.
In the last few months, she’s twerked, tongued, and toked while promoting her “Bangerz” album. The former “Hannah Montana” star’s onstage antics often drive more press than her actual vocal performances — which in turn keeps her in the news, and apparently inspires others to buy the music we’re all not talking about. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 200 list, selling 270,000 copies in its first week alone. So, her policy is working.
But on Tuesday, the 20-year-old singer performed a cover of Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness” for BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” … in a black turtleneck. Not a black turtleneck worn as a onesie. Not even a black turtleneck worn as a dress with the nipples cut out. Miley wore a black turtleneck AND pants. And shoes, and minimal makeup/hairstyling.
Instead of donning pasties or flashing her butt cheeks, the “Wrecking Ball” singer simply sang. No gimmicks, no midgets, just sound (though she couldn’t resist sticking out that infamous tongue while filming the intro).
And it was good!
