Jennifer Garner Has Responded To Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez’s Engagement: “Ben told Jen and the kids, so they knew about it”
The former couple split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage
Jennifer Garner has been candid about her divorce from Ben Affleck in recent years, and the couple has reportedly remained polite since then. According to Us Weekly, the actress has since reacted to the exciting news that Ben Affleck proposed to Jennifer Lopez over the weekend, and her response is all class.
“Ben told Jen and the kids, so they knew about it,” a source for E! News has revealed. “Jen is happy for Ben and knows that J. Lo has been a positive influence in certain ways.”
When the pair first met after two decades in early 2021, the sentiment was repeated in previous accounts. Garner “wasn’t bothered” by the news, according to an insider for Entertainment Tonight at the time, and what mattered most to her was “Ben being a great Dad.” Violet, 16, Seraphina, 13, and Samuel, 10, are the children of the former spouse.
The question of whether Garner will get (or even accept) a wedding invitation remains unanswered. Affleck and Lopez planned to keep their engagement a secret for a little longer, according to a separate source for E! News. It’s also been reported that the wedding would be postponed for a while. Last October, the Jens, and Ben went all of their children trick-or-treating together in an attempt to reunite their families.
Garner and Affleck split in 2015 after 10 years of marriage before they finalized their divorce in 2018. In a past interview, the 13 Going On 30 star described the struggles of the split. “Going through it in public is not what’s hard, going through it is what’s hard,” Garner told The Hollywood Reporter in 2021. “My children’s eyes are on me.”
“When they were smaller and there were things out there that were shocking, my request to them was always, ‘Let Dad and I talk you through whatever it is,’” she added. “I’d tell them, ‘If you see an image on the front of a magazine, I’ll look at it with you and we’ll process all the scary feelings that come up together.’”
