Daniel Craig Named Highest Paid James Bond Ever
‘Skyfall’ star Daniel Craig has become the highest-paid James Bond ever, after signing up for two more films for a fee of over £31 million. In his role as secret agent 007, the English actor will earn more than any other actor to play the martini-swigging action hero. Craig’s getting a huge payrise – his last Bond film, Quantum of Solace, earned him £4.4 million in 2008.
The news comes as ‘Skyfall‘ is hailed the most successful Bond film in the franchise’s 50-year history, having already grossed $669.2m globally, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sam Mendes’ film is well ahead of the $599.2m earned by ‘Casino Royale’ in 2006. It took $87.8m (£55m) in its opening weekend in the US, also outperforming the last film ‘Quantum of Solace’. ‘Sykfall’ has now overtaken ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ in the UK for the seven-day box-office record for the highest-grossing film. Meanwhile, Craig made a surprise appearance in front of 800 members of the British Army in Afghanistan before a screening of ‘Skyfall’ on Sunday.
