Sean “Diddy” Combs, who has been in custody since September last year, is heading towards trial as his legal team files new claims alleging racial discrimination. The 55-year-old rapper’s attorneys submitted a new court document this week, arguing that Combs is being unfairly targeted.
The filing appeals for the dismissal of criminal charges against the Last Night rapper, asserting that “he has been singled out because he is a powerful black man.” Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, has previously denied all allegations against him. The legal document, obtained by Sky News, claims he is facing a “racist” prosecution.

The disgraced music mogul, who has been charged with sexual abuse, trafficking, racketeering, and engagement in prostitution, is allegedly being prosecuted “for conduct that regularly goes unpunished,” the filing states.
“This case is unprecedented in many ways, but perhaps most notably, and most disturbingly, no white person has ever been the target of a remotely similar prosecution,” the document claims. It goes on to highlight Combs’ achievements as an “extraordinarily successful artist, businessman, philanthropist, and one of the most accomplished black people in this country.”

His lawyers also argue that “like many other celebrities,” Combs has had “complicated relationships with significant others as well as with alcohol and drugs throughout his time in the spotlight.” However, they insist, “That doesn’t make him a racketeer or a sex trafficker.”
Diddy remains in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn as he awaits trial, which is scheduled to begin in May. His legal team continues to fight for his release and dismissal of charges, maintaining that he is being unfairly prosecuted.
