Kim Kardashian called Kanye West in tears after Saint saw an ad about her love tape: “I’ll sue for nominal damages”
The Kardashians’ new Hulu series documented a very intimate moment in Kardashian’s life.
The Kardashians premieres on Hulu on Thursday, but according to the Los Angeles Times and the Daily Mail, the first episode of the show will focus on a very personal moment in Kim Kardashian‘s life: her then-five-year-old son Saint seeing an ad on Roblox for unseen footage of her and then-boyfriend Ray-J’s infamous sex tape, Yahoo reported.
According to Elle, during a family gathering/barbecue, Saint noticed the ad and showed it to Kardashian. Later, while preparing for her Saturday Night Live hosting gig, Kardashian huddled with her mother Kris Jenner, and sisters Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian in her closet to address the matter with her lawyer Marty Singer and his team.
“I’ll sue for nominal damages. The message is more important than the dollars, at this point,” Kardashian told Singer, via the Los Angeles Times. Later she added to him, “I don’t want it to be copied. I have four fucking kids. I can’t go through this again. This was like 20 years ago. I’m not going to go through this again. I know the right attorneys this time. I know exactly what to do this time…I have all the time, all the money, and all of the resources to burn them all to the fucking ground.”
The Daily Mail added that Kardashian called her ex-husband West, from whom she filed for divorce in February 2021, crying over the matter. “I almost died when Saint thought it was funny,” she told West, noting Saint didn’t understand the ad’s context. She said she would’ve “died inside” if Saint was “a little bit older and old enough to read.”
In a confessional interview, Kardashian said that while she was crying, Kanye West helped calm her down. “Kanye was like, listen you have the power, nothing will cancel you. Stop worrying about public perception. you know who you are,” she said.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Kardashian spoke about her relationship with West at the time in another confessional interview. They were on good terms then. “Kanye and I are still going through a divorce now,” she said. “We’re just trying to figure it out—how to be good parents to our kids together, of how to be good friends to each other. The ultimate goal, no matter what, is just happiness and following that, whatever that looks like.”
