Jennifer Lopez’s in ‘fighting shape’, ‘I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been’
Jennifer Lopez recently shared that she is in what she considers the best physical shape of her life. At 54 years old, the accomplished singer and actress revealed her fitness achievements in a conversation about her latest movie project, which played a significant role in enhancing her physical condition.
The project in question is a film adaptation of the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig titled “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” The story intricately weaves the lives of an Argentine revolutionary and a gay window dresser who, while imprisoned, recounts fantastical tales about a fictional actress named Aurora. This narrative framework sets the stage for a compelling exploration of character and resilience under duress, told Daily Mail.
Lopez explained how her role in the movie demanded rigorous physical preparation, leading her to achieve what she describes as a “fighting shape.” This term not only underscores her intensive training regime but also metaphorically reflects the battling spirits of the characters within the film’s storyline.
“I just finished a movie called Kiss of the Spider Woman, where it was all singing and dancing, which was equal parts exhilarating and exhausting as well,” she shared with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos on Live with Kelly and Mark. “Now, I’m ready to go. I’m the thinnest I’ve ever been. I’m in fighting shape right now,” she said. “It’s moving your body, constantly moving your body, it’s traveling, it’s doing two hours of exertion every night… it’s a time when I get, like, in a really good kind of healthy shape.”
Adding to her physical regime, Lopez also highlighted the benefits of her stage performances, noting that the singing and dancing involved are excellent forms of exercise that keep her in top form. Her stage shows are known for their high energy and demanding choreography, which require and contribute to her remarkable fitness levels.
The original story of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” had previously been adapted into a highly successful 1985 film, which saw William Hurt winning an Oscar for Best Actor. The tale also made a significant impact on Broadway, where its musical adaptation garnered seven Tony Awards. These accolades underscore the story’s rich dramatic and emotional depths, which Lopez’s film seeks to capture anew.
Lopez’s involvement in such a demanding project and her commitment to maintaining an extraordinary level of physical fitness is a testament to her dedication not only to her craft but also to her personal health and well-being. Through her recent film roles and her ongoing stage performances, Lopez continues to inspire with her energy, discipline, and passion for her work.
