LOS ANGELES—Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has officially returned as a coach on The Voice for its upcoming 27th season, marking his comeback to the hit singing competition after departing in 2019. Levine, 45, who was one of the show’s original coaches, opened up about his decision to return in a recent interview with E! News, revealing that the timing simply felt right.

“I just felt like it was time,” Levine said. “I was ready to do it, then the stars aligned and here I am.” The Sugar singer’s exit from The Voice after 16 seasons was a major shift for the show, but Levine admitted he had no regrets about stepping away when he did. “It’s funny, I actually didn’t miss it while I was gone,” he said. “But I became more nostalgic about it once I came back.”

Now that he’s back in the red chair, Levine says he’s thrilled to be joining John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini on the coaching panel. “I’m just super happy and pumped. I love these guys so much,” he shared.

Levine made a brief return to The Voice in 2023 when he performed Maroon 5’s song Middle Ground during the season 23 finale, but this marks his first full season as a coach since his departure. Fans can expect to see Levine back in action when The Voice season 27 premieres on Monday, February 3.
