“She Wants to Ban Plastic Straws” Trump Advisor Ridiculed for Kamala Harris Critique

Social media users are mocking Donald Trump’s senior advisor, Jason Miller, who reportedly told NBC that a major issue liability for Kamala Harris, whom President Joe Biden recently endorsed for president, is that “she wants to ban plastic straws.”
Jason Miller, senior advisor to the 2024 Trump campaign, has a controversial past, having been accused of “a cycle of sexual coercion, rape, sexual assault, abuse, battery, sexual harassment, and sex trafficking.” Despite his troubled history, Miller is now focusing his attacks on Harris, told The Telegraph.
Democratic pollster Matt McDermott highlighted the development on Sunday. “Senior Trump campaign advisor Jason Miller on NBC says that a major issue liability for [Harris] is that ‘she wants to ban plastic straws,'” McDermott wrote. “Republicans are completely lost right now.”
Twitter user @JamesStevenson responded to McDermott’s tweet, saying, “Difficult for Jason in particular this moment since he is grasping at them.” He added, “If he thinks plastic straws are the big problem, then she’s doing great.” Former Trump campaign aide A.J. Delgado also weighed in, suggesting that the event made her reconsider Harris’s chances against Trump.
“I didn’t think Kamala could win but then I remembered how bad the Trump team is,” Delgado wrote on Sunday. The ridicule on social media underscores the perceived weakness of Miller’s attack, focusing on a relatively minor issue in the broader context of a presidential campaign. The emphasis on plastic straws, rather than more significant political or policy matters, has led to widespread derision.
