A Georgia couple was found dead in their home near Carrollton on Thursday morning, with authorities investigating the incident as a double homicide. James Brock, 45, and Kristin Brock, 41, were discovered in their blood-soaked beds with gunshot wounds at their residence off Tyus Road, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

The couple, who shared three children, were described as beloved members of their community and recent attendees of Catalyst Church in Carrollton. Investigators spent Thursday and Friday gathering evidence, including surveillance footage, and speaking with neighbors. Ashley Hulsey, Communications Director for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that the weapon was not found at the scene, ruling out initial speculation of a murder-suicide, WSB-TV reported.

“This is a very quiet community. We may have a few thefts here and there, but we definitely don’t have violent crime. So this is very unusual in this area,” Hulsey said. She added that there was no sign of forced entry, though one door was left ajar when the bodies were discovered.

Friends and church members remembered the Brocks as kind, joyful, and deeply caring individuals. Tasha Meza, who invited the couple to Catalyst Church, described Kristin as “bubbly and fun” and James as a “comical kind of guy” who loved making people laugh. Janelle Thompson recalled Kristin’s unwavering support, saying, “She always encouraged you, told Fox 5.

She was definitely the friend that you would want to have around.” Another church member, Jonan Daniel, shared a touching story about Kristin’s kindness. During a Christmas parade, Kristin knelt to tie Daniel’s untied shoe, saying, “This is the type of friend I want to be.”

The shocking nature of the crime has left the community in disbelief. “We’re not ruling anything out,” Hulsey said, urging anyone with information to come forward. “Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be just that key that cracks this case wide open.”

As the investigation continues, the Brocks’ church family and loved ones are left mourning their loss. “Kristen was bubbly and fun and she loved hugs. She never met a stranger,” Meza said. “James would always crack jokes and always say something to make you laugh.”

Authorities are working to piece together the events leading to the couple’s tragic deaths, while the community rallies to support their grieving family.
