Meghan Markle has been advised that stepping away from the Invictus Games was the right decision, allowing Prince Harry to focus on his work with the event without unnecessary distractions. As the Duke of Sussex continues his involvement with the Invictus Games, the Duchess has remained in the United States with their children.
Some experts believe this separation benefits both Harry and the event itself. Public relations expert Edward Coram James weighed in on the matter, telling Express that Meghan’s presence could have overshadowed the core mission of the Games.

“Meghan should leave the Invictus Games to Harry. It’s his project, and he’s more than capable of generating support and attention for this amazing cause,” James stated. The PR strategist noted that while Meghan and Harry have garnered significant public attention, their joint brand has faced challenges in recent years.
“Over the years, their joint brand has become a bit tarnished — not because of anything they did wrong, but because of poor PR management,” he explained. James suggested that Meghan was in a difficult position regardless of what she chose to do, as public opinion on her involvement would likely remain divided.

“Meghan’s involvement was always going to be a no-win situation—criticized whether she showed up or not,” he continued. “But at the end of the day, it became a distraction for a lot of people.” The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry in 2014, serve as an international sporting event for wounded and injured service members and veterans.
The initiative has been a deeply personal project for the Duke, reflecting his years of military service and commitment to veteran welfare. While Meghan previously attended the Games alongside Harry, speculation over her role in royal and public life has fueled ongoing discussions about her participation in events tied to the couple’s philanthropic efforts.

Observers have noted that Harry’s work with the Invictus Games remains widely respected, and allowing him to lead the initiative alone could help maintain the event’s focus on veterans rather than public scrutiny of the Sussexes.
As Prince Harry continues his efforts with the Games, Meghan’s decision to remain behind with their children may help alleviate some of the media frenzy surrounding their joint appearances. The move could allow the couple to redefine their public roles while keeping their charitable work in the spotlight.
