Vice President J.D. Vance found himself the target of social media ridicule on Super Bowl Sunday after revealing he was watching the Puppy Bowl instead of addressing the major governmental shifts underway under President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
As reports circulated about Trump and Musk enacting sweeping structural changes to the U.S. government, Vance’s lighthearted comment about the Puppy Bowl raised questions about his role in the administration.

Vance took to X, formerly known as Twitter, writing, “Puppy Bowl just showed a chihuahua-German shepherd mix and, uh, I’ve got questions.” His post quickly drew reactions, with critics questioning his responsibilities as vice president.
A former Republican influencer known as Paige Ex GOP sarcastically asked, “He doesn’t have a job, does he?” Democratic commentator Harry Sisson joined in, saying, “So like do you do anything other than sit on social media all day?” He then added, “Or has Trump kicked you out of his inner circle and relegated you to this?”
Even some Trump supporters appeared baffled by Vance’s choice of entertainment. A self-identified MAGA user, TMART, asked bluntly, “Yeah, I got a question. Why are you watching the Puppy Bowl??? The kids turn it on?”
Another user, @masonisonx, a self-described combat veteran, took a more pointed approach, suggesting that Vance’s role had been reduced to irrelevance. “The Musk administration slid Trump into the VP slot and you into the social media manager position, uh, I’ve had questions for three weeks.”
The criticism reflects growing speculation about Vance’s position within the Trump administration. While traditionally the vice presidency carries limited official responsibilities, Vance’s perceived lack of influence has sparked debate over whether he holds any real power or if Musk’s involvement in the government has overshadowed his role.

The Puppy Bowl post, though seemingly innocuous, only fueled the perception that Vance has been sidelined, leaving both supporters and critics wondering what, exactly, he is doing in office.
