Lara Trump is making a high-profile return to Fox News as the host of a new primetime show, My View with Lara Trump. The network announced on Wednesday, February 5, that the daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump will helm the program, set to premiere on February 22 and air on Saturday nights.
While the announcement has generated buzz among Trump supporters, it has also ignited criticism and online backlash, with many questioning the network’s independence given Lara Trump’s close ties to the White House.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott praised Lara Trump’s return, emphasizing her previous work with the network. “Lara was a total professional and a natural when she was with us years ago,” Scott told The New York Times. “She is very talented and is a strong, effective communicator with great potential as a host.”
Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump, previously worked as a producer for Inside Edition and served as a Fox News contributor from March 2021 to December 2022. Her new show, according to a press release, will provide “big picture analysis and interviews with thought leaders, shedding light on the headlines driving the national conversation and affecting families around the country.”
Expressing her excitement about returning to the network, Lara Trump shared a statement highlighting her enthusiasm. “I’m thrilled to bring my voice back to FOX News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great,” she said.
She added, “As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future.” Lara also took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “SO excited! See you Saturday nights on @FoxNews!!! 🇺🇸.”
However, her new role has sparked concerns from media watchdogs and critics, who argue that it further blurs the lines between Fox News and the Trump administration. A senior fellow at Media Matters for America voiced his concerns on X, stating:
“Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law goes from Fox contributor to RNC chair to Fox host—you really can’t think of the network as independent from the White House in any way right now.” Social media users also expressed skepticism, with many questioning whether Lara Trump’s new role is part of a broader effort to align Fox News with the Trump campaign.
