Kanye West may be on the verge of losing millions following his controversial appearance at last night’s Grammy Awards, with sources suggesting his upcoming Tokyo performances could be in jeopardy. Adding to the turmoil, his wife, Bianca Censori, could be facing legal trouble over their headline-grabbing stunt.

The couple made waves on the Grammy red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday night, drawing attention away from fundraising efforts for California wildfire relief. Bianca, 30, stunned audiences with her barely-there nude mesh dress, which created the illusion of complete nudity. The daring outfit led to an uncomfortable situation, reportedly prompting event officials to ask them to leave.

Now, the fallout from their antics is beginning to take shape, with financial consequences looming. Kanye, 47, has been spending a significant amount of time in Japan, and he had two high-profile concerts scheduled for May at the Tokyo Dome, worth an estimated $20 million. However, following the Grammys, reports indicate that his Japanese investors are reconsidering their support.

According to a source speaking to the Daily Mail, Kanye’s behavior at the awards show has been met with disapproval in Japan. The country is experiencing what the insider described as a “cultural awakening,” and many view the rapper’s actions as potentially controlling or coercive towards Bianca.

“What he did is being seen as an act of coercive control, which is utterly unacceptable,” the source stated. “The investors in Japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows.”

They added, “He has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people towards these activities. He’s just not welcome anymore. This will be a big blow for him because he has been living in Japan for around a year now, almost full-time, and I guess he did not see this coming.”

This latest setback is yet another financial hit for Kanye, who has seen his net worth drop by an estimated £1.2 billion over the past three years, largely due to controversies and erratic behavior. Once valued at around $2 billion (£1.6 billion) on the Forbes rich list, the rapper’s fortune has dwindled as major brands sever ties.

Despite making it onto the prestigious list, Kanye was dissatisfied with the valuation, reportedly texting a Forbes editor: “It’s $3.3 billion (£2.66bn) since no one at Forbes knows how to count.”

His financial downfall accelerated when brands such as Gap and Balenciaga distanced themselves from him. Adidas, one of his most lucrative partners, cut ties in 2022, costing him an estimated $535 million (£430 million) alone.

The primary catalyst for these losses was Kanye’s series of antisemitic social media outbursts, beginning with his 2022 post suggesting that fellow rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was “controlled” by Jews. The backlash led to widespread condemnation and irreparable damage to his business relationships.

As controversy continues to follow him, it remains to be seen how Kanye will navigate this latest career and financial blow.
