A royal expert has claimed that many in Britain believe Prince Harry is “totally manipulated” by his wife, Meghan Markle and that the couple’s reputation continues to suffer as a result. Speaking to Fox News Digital, royal commentator Ingrid Seward explained how Meghan is often viewed negatively in the UK.

“I think sadly in the U.K. they are really not liked, especially Meghan,” Seward shared. She elaborated on the public perception, saying, “People see her as a girl [who] took her husband away from his family, and she’s a girl [who] abandoned her own family. Not all of it, obviously not, but her father.

And now, she’s persuaded Harry to abandon his father, and he dissed his own family in his autobiography. He didn’t have to do that.” Seward’s comments reflect lingering frustration over Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, where he aired grievances about his family.

The revelations caused significant backlash in Britain, further straining the couple’s public image. “I think people really have a very, very low opinion of the Sussexes,” Seward stated, highlighting how the couple’s actions have fueled disapproval. Despite this, the expert believes that a sense of affection for Prince Harry still exists.

“I think there is a big fondness for Harry still,” Seward added. “I think people feel that he’s totally manipulated by his wife, which we don’t know, but I think people feel that.” The royal expert also pointed out that the UK’s interest in Harry and Meghan has taken a particular turn.

“At the moment, people are just not interested in them here, but they’re interested in reading about their demise… They’re not interested in perhaps reading about how well they might be doing. We never hear if they’re doing well because we only hear about the bad things they do.”

The remarks come amid continued scrutiny of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following their departure from royal duties in 2020. While Harry and Meghan have sought new lives in California, their actions—including candid interviews and Harry’s memoir—have deeply divided public opinion, particularly in the UK.

Seward’s comments shed light on the complicated narrative surrounding the Sussexes. While many still hold a soft spot for Harry, the perception of Meghan as a divisive figure remains a major sticking point for their reputation.
