Metro Employee Shot in the Face During Break” and “Man Dies Defending Teen in Prank Gone Wrong

California authorities are actively searching for 45-year-old Dorian Holt, who is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend, a Metro bus driver, in the face during her break in Hollywood. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday in the 1600 block of North Vermont Avenue, according to KABC.
Police reported that the woman was standing on the sidewalk when Holt approached her, pulled out a handgun, and fired. She had parked her bus for a scheduled break and had reportedly agreed to meet Holt at that location. Thankfully, no one else was injured, but the victim remains in critical condition.
“Metro is deeply saddened by the act of domestic violence that seriously injured a Metro employee while she was on the sidewalk during a bus layover near Hollywood and Vermont streets,” Metro stated. They also thanked the Los Angeles Fire Department for their quick response in transporting the victim to a nearby hospital.
The LAPD confirmed that the victim’s role as a bus driver was not a factor in the incident. Holt was last seen fleeing on foot, wearing a black sweatshirt, dark pants, and a black LA Dodgers hat. On the same day, another tragic incident unfolded in California. A 43-year-old mother and her boyfriend were shot after intervening in a confrontation involving her 19-year-old son, Peyton Clark. The shooting occurred after 2 a.m. at the Washington Square apartments on Fernwood Avenue.
According to reports, the suspect confronted Clark after he had egged the suspect’s car as a prank. Things escalated when the man approached Clark, his mother Kellyann Hawk, and her boyfriend, 51-year-old Lamar Coley. During the altercation, the suspect opened fire, injuring Hawk and fatally shooting Coley.
“I got shot once, and he got shot twice, but it cost him his life,” Hawk told NBC affiliate News Channel 8. “He’s my hero.” Hawk and Coley were two weeks away from celebrating their four-year anniversary.
Clark expressed deep regret for his actions, crediting Coley for saving his life. “He sacrificed his life to make sure I got away safely,” Clark said. “I can’t repay that, because he’s not here anymore. I just feel like if I would have done something differently…” The LAPD continues to investigate both incidents as the community mourns the victims of these acts of violence.
