Whoopi Goldberg Slams J.D. Vance Over Comments on Trump Assassination Attempts

In the latest episode of The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg sparked controversy by taking aim at Republican running mate J.D. Vance over his recent remarks following assassination attempts on Donald Trump. Goldberg didn’t hold back, starting the show with a bold statement: “Now we’re gonna talk about some idiotic stuff.”

The conversation centered around two recent assassination attempts that had the nation on edge, including a gunman armed with an AK-47 who was arrested at Trump’s Florida golf course. Vance, speaking at the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Atlanta, made comments that ignited backlash on social media. “You know the big difference between conservatives and liberals is that no one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump,” Vance said.

He added, “That’s pretty strong evidence that the left needs to tone down the rhetoric and needs to cut this crap out.” The View audience was visibly stunned, with audible gasps filling the studio. Co-host Joy Behar remarked, “The audience is appalled,” and Alyssa Farah Griffin added, “Literally, jaws were dropping in our audience,” according to Decider.

Goldberg addressed Vance directly in response. “J.D., clearly you’ve not been to one of your boss’s rallies,” she said. “Because you believe this insanity. I mean, he has been inciting violence since 2016, telling them to beat up hecklers, threatening to shoot looters and migrants.” She then challenged Vance to reflect on his words, saying, “You have to really take a look in a mirror to see the reflection.”

Goldberg also highlighted the crucial role of the Secret Service in keeping political figures safe. “One of the reasons that everybody has survived is because the Secret Service has been doing their job,” she said. Her final message to Vance: “So quit blaming folks until you decide to take a look at what’s coming out of your mouth,” according to The Raw Story.

This isn’t the first time The View has taken issue with Vance. Weeks earlier, the show criticized his comments at a private fundraiser where he remarked that Kamala Harris doesn’t carry the same political baggage as Joe Biden. At the time, Goldberg expressed pity for Vance, saying, “This poor guy.

I feel so bad for him.” Despite co-host Behar cautioning against sympathy, Goldberg stood firm, comparing her feelings to Mr. T’s famous line: “I pity the fool.” Goldberg’s fierce critique of Vance comes as both political and social tensions continue to rise, with The View firmly positioning itself as a vocal critic of divisive rhetoric.
